The I Have What?? Edition
Yesterday was "Let's All Go To The Doctor Day".
We try to book all of our medical visits on the same day so that Shell and I don't have to lose too much time having separate doctor visits on different days.
Her 24 week midwife appointment went very well. They are pleased with the last ultrasound results and the baby's heartrate was 140. They are still being cautious with her, keeping her on reduced activity until after next Friday's ultrasound to see how things are progressing. If they continue to look positive they'll ease up on her restrictions and she won't have to spend 12 hours in bed a day.
I on the other hand...not so good.
It turns out that the bronchitis I had over the last few weeks turned into a viral infection which worked its way into my muscular system, which has been the cause of my back spasms and the pain that's been eating away at me the last week.
The right side of my body is in intense pain that reaches from about midway down my back all the way up into my collar bone and through the front of my chest.
My doctor has me on antibiotics and pain killers. Wonderful.
I was pretty much laid up this weekend which meant that our visit from Jen and Alex found me lame. Though they seem to have a good time anyway. On Sunday they went with Shell to the big barn antique place on Trafalgar Rd, since they all share the love of shopping apparently. Then they came back and we had some grill action before we had to take them home Sunday evening.
Speaking of Sunday...
Finally someone I liked won Survivor. Fireman Tom kicked but and won the cool million. Sure I'd have prefered Stephanie, my Survivor girlfriend to have won, but she went out a few weeks ago, so Tom was my second favorite.
Shell did most of the hosting this weekend so while we watched Survivor she pretty muched crashed...as did the puppies.
Being a dog is such hard work
I mean really really hard work
Ooo how quickly Canadian politics can change...
For the Americans in the group, it's been looking as though the Paul Martin-Liberal government would fall this week, and an election called. However in a stunning move yesterday, Conservative MP Belinda Stronach, who had recently run for leader of the Conservatives, switched parties and joined the Liberals, gaining a cabinet post in the Martin government. It was a stunning move that has Tories reeling, and throwing into doubt whether the Liberals will lose a budget vote this week.
The Liberal party has been in trouble recently for a huge scandal that has given the Conservatives reason to believe the time was ripe for a change. Joining with the Bloc Quebecois, the Conservatives had hoped to bring down the government this week and force an election in the next 45 days. However the Stronach switch, in addition to the alliance between the Liberals and the NDP have made the vote on the budget this week a little easier perhaps for the Liberals to pass. We shall see.
The Globe and Mail has a good article about the situation if you are interested.
Until next time
Cheers
